ΠΕΑΠ: Practicing colors and clothing with B' class at 15th primary school Ilioupolis. Teacher: Fotini Veneti
Venue: 15th Primary School Ilioupolis
Date: 6th hour, 4th April 2011
Class: B class
Teacher: Fotini Veneti
LESSON PLAN
MATERIALS: CD player and CDs of ‘happy’ song and music for cat-walk, cut outs of clothes,
Clothes-line and clothes pegs, stop-sign and lines for cat-walk.
AIMS: To practice vocabulary of colours and clothing taught the previous week, to promote enjoyment and self confidence.
WARM UP: Teacher greets children and elicits choral response about whether they are happy or not. Teacher plays ‘happy song’ and children sing the chorus, which they already know, while listening.
PRACTICE: Teacher gets 2 students to erect a clothes-line and asks 2 more students to come and hang clothes on the line. One student is to say what they are hanging up using the colour and the clothing as they do so, for example: yellow trousers, a pink bikini, a red hat etc.. Later another couple is asked to take down the washing, doing the same as they take the washing off the line. This is repeated with several groups.
FURTHER PRACTICE: Students come to the front of the class and walk the cat-walk to music. One student is the ‘model’ and the other is the ‘clothes-master’ who must describe what the ‘model’ student is wearing. When the description is finished the ‘clothes-master’ is awarded a paper rosette. Students then applaud the model and the clothes-master.
CONCLUSION: After several groups do this, rosettes are awarded to the observing teachers! The clothes are later hung on the permanent line in the classroom for further practice the following week.
